A lion cub plays with a sandal typically worn by Masaii in the Masaii Mara. This opens a Pandora's Box of questions: What is the story behind the sandal? How did it come to be in the grassy field? Why did the owner abandon his/her sandal? Was there an urgency to the abandonment? Who is the owner and where is he/she now?? While we may ponder these questions and more, the lion cub is having a great time with the unlikely play toy! The bigger of story of the image, besides the cuteness of the cub and the spontaneity of the moment, is that Man often impacts Nature in subtle ways we may not consider.
