My goal in this image is to tell the story of the challenges that face penguins in their natural habitat. On this day, the winds were over 40 knots/hour. The sea was so rugged that all ports were closed for safety reasons. I wrapped up my camera and lenses and went out to capture wildlife in the intense blowing sand, and pounding surf. This group of 4 King Penguins were so challenged by conditions they remained motionless, unsure what next steps to take. Their indecision gave me the opportunity I needed to frame them against the stormy sky and the stormy beach.
