Aerial photography in Alaska’s winter season is both challenging and rewarding. It is challenging because, at altitudes of 8000 feet and temperatures below zero, it is difficult to shoot out the open window of 4-seater aircraft. My hands and face were frozen and my eyes streamed tears from the cold. It is rewarding because Winter is in full splendor. Every mountain ridge is a monumental sculpture of rock, snow and ice reflecting fabulous light.
