Dawn in the Falkland Islands brings King Penguins to the sea in anticipation of feeding. Yet, as much as the Kings want to head out to sea they often hesitate on the beach to assess the dangers of predators such as a lurking leopard seal or sea lion. This group milled about on the wet sand until the sun began to rise. Their delay gave me the opportunity to take advantage of the sun rising through the clouds to narrow my aperture and create a sun burst over the scene. Volunteer Point, Falklands.
